My Motivations and Values

Motivations

Emerging from my professional experience and training , a number of core motivations and values underpin my work at Rain or Shine:

• A strong commitment to social justice from a queer, feminist and intersectional perspective. 

• A passion for engaging the imagination. For example, I enjoy exploring with my clients how we make meaning out of our lives through stories, images and dreamwork.

• A centring of embodied awareness and compassion as tools for individual and collective liberation.

My Values

Inclusion:

I constantly strive to centre the voices of those who are marginalised.

Compassion:

I use kindness and embodied awareness to build the therapeutic relationship.

Empowerment:

I focus on challenging negative internalised societal messages and empowering my clients.

Anti-Oppressive Practice

I acknowledge that experiences of discrimination and marginalisation strongly impact my client’s lives, and my practice is shaped around responding to this reality in a compassionate, creative and empowered way.

Intersectionality:

I acknowledge all aspects of experience and identity which shape my client's sense of self - and constantly challenge the limits of my own perspective.
