My Motivations and Values
Emerging from my professional experience and training in providing emotional and practical support to marginalised communities, a number of core motivations and values underpin my work at Rain or Shine. These enable me to remain committed to working in an empathic, non-judgemental and professionally informed way to support you in my sessions.
Motivations
My counselling and psychotherapeutic work is motivated by:
A strong commitment to social justice from a queer, feminist and intersectional perspective.
A passion for engaging the imagination. For example, I enjoy exploring with my clients how we make meaning out of our lives through stories, images and visions.
A centring of embodied awareness and compassion as tools for individual and collective liberation.
My Values
The following values are at the heart of Rain or Shine:
Inclusion: I constantly strive to centre the voices of those who are marginalised.
Compassion: I use kindness and embodied awareness to build the therapeutic relationship.
Empowerment: I focus on challenging negative internalised societal messages and empowering my clients.
Intersectionality: I acknowledge all aspects of experience and identity which shape my client's sense of self - and constantly challenge the limits of my own perspective.
